User Interface (UI) Design is an integral aspect of your web application. Once you build it and they come, can they use it? Will they like it enough to come back? And can they use it in an intuitive natural way? Are desired results achieved via a clear interface and optimized worklow?

Good UI design aims to make the web application as user-able to; the majority of users that use the application, and then to as many different user profiles as possible.

UI Design is an art and science that is both pragmatic and creative. Usability has to do with functional design that uses aesthetics to serve the user experience.

High priority considerations for web application UI design are:

• Purpose and desired results: Knowing what the user of the application wishes to achieve and designing to serve the user is the foundation of UI design
• Means off access: The user will access the web application via a variety of platforms and channels. Some arrive on low bandwidth connections, through mobile devices, variety of operating systems, browsers, legacy software. Others come via the latest platforms available.
• Personality and character: Ever heard of left brain dominant or right brain dominant? Some people are highly conceptual. They may find their way more easily through the use of images and icons, colors and graphical pointers. Others may find graphics and colors noisy and distracting
• Lots of other kind of factors like moon cycles, alignment of the stars and PI...but we won't bore you with that.
