Mojah began in 1999, when web development was a new field in South Africa and there were only a handful of companies offering web development services. Initially called Mojah Online Marketing, the company offered web and email server management and web development solutions. There was a strong focus on Macromedia's Flash technology for web animation and multimedia.

In 2000, Mojah programmed their first content management system in Microsoft's asp language and began developing sites on that system. In 2002 Mojah Media got it's first office space and welcomed a sales professional into the team.

In 2004, the company expanded to Argentina where the team grew to 8 and began working with open source, eventually meeting Drupal.

The Name

The name Mojah, comes from the Swahili language spoken in the coastal regions of East Africa, and may be interpreted as one, unision or sysnthesis. It was chosen because the vision then was to bring together all the various internet technologies to provide solutions from one company.
